We couldn't be happier with Kiddie Academy of Itasca and the staff. The direction, Ms. Maria is the sweetest, and so up front about everything. Our daughter is in the infant room right now, and Miss Jessica, Miss Desirea, and Ms Patti are so wonderful. My daughter loves getting up and going to "school" to see her friends and teachers. She has learned so much in the last 7 months that she has been there. I could not be more happier with our choice to enroll her there.

We enjoy the caring nature of the staff. Ms. Kelsey, Ms. Ahtziri and Ms. Makayla make each day fun for the children in their classroom. The children are taught self regulation and the importance of learning to work with others. The teachers establish a good routine and follow it daily. We appreciate how the staff takes on such a caring role in the daily lives of the children.
Staff share pictures throughout the day of the children working on their learning goals.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Our daughter has attended Kiddie Academy of Itasca for the past 2 years and our experience overall has been very positive. We've been very pleased with the quality of the care and the facilities.
She is currently in the classroom with Ms. Kelsey and every morning she can't wait to get inside to see her friends and teacher.
Every teacher our daughter has had so far has been wonderful. Ms. Kelsey always seems so friendly and calm even when wrangling a half dozen two year olds. Ms. Yaritza and Ms. Makayla are also very good teachers in her classroom.
Previously she has been under the care of Ms. Patti, Ms. Priyanka, Ms. Jasmine, and Ms. Jessica who are all excellent.
The director Maria and owners seem to be very quick to respond to any concerns we have had.
We also like the activities that are planned for the children and the variety of foods served at meals. We give our compliments to Ms. Grace who prepares the meals and adds an extra fun touch at times (ex. "ghost" bagels for halloween).
Each picture we get on the app our daughter appears to be doing something interesting and having a great time. We are currently very satisfied and applaud the staff on their hard work.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

I am so happy with the Kiddie Academy in Itasca! First time I've ever sent a child to a day care and I felt it was warm, welcoming, educationally driven and clean from day one until current. The Directors are kind, clear and down to earth. Our teacher is currently Ms. Kelsey and she is wonderful and so good with the kids. All teachers and aids in the class know the kids, are structured and fun all at the same time. I am confident my child is in good care at this location under this current staff. So very happy and would highly recommend them!

I'm updating my review to one star. The owner's response to my initial review is actually really the problem here - there's no one in management at this establishment who is willing to be accountable for the daycare's shortcomings and work to fix them.
The daycare handed out a known choking hazard to infants/young toddlers. That's on the parents for saying it's okay. The daycare can give the kids poison as long as the parents don't object.
The daycare hired an unreliable covid testing company. That's apparently the testing company's fault. The daycare wouldn't take responsibility and say "we should've vetted the company with more care."
Having our reasons for leaving the daycare being misconstrued - that's on me (hey, look, this is how you take responsibility for something). As soon as the covid case was mismanaged in early January 2022, I began working to find us a new daycare. But good daycares don't tend to have immediate openings. I was stressed AF every single day my son was attending this daycare. Seeing babies sleeping in boppies and hearing teachers yelling at young children in just the 5 minutes I was in the building was stressful! I didn't want him in that environment. My mom was able to semi retire and take over some child care. Our plan was to have our son at KA just two days per week until we could get off the waitlist at a daycare we wanted him to attend. When we were switching to 2 days/week at KA, the director informed us that tuition had increased by 33% compared to the price sheet we were given in Spring 2021. I asked if there was some mistake because most daycares won't increase by that much (it's actually written in our current daycare policies that they cannot increase tuition by more than 4% annually). I was told there wasn't an error and that's the price. The same day I was told we were likely going to get off a wait-list at a daycare we wanted in at! So I disenrolled my son and was thrilled that I wouldn't need to ask so much of my elderly mom and that I could have my kid in a daycare I trusted for 5 days/week.
Kunjan - please feel free to share any and all email correspondence I've had with KA. I'm accountable only for my son's care and safety. He wasn't safe at KA. And the lack of responsibility and accountability makes it clear that management does not care and does not want to improve.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank You for your review. Sorry we did not meet your expectation. However, some of the things being said here is not correct at all. We hired a third party to come and do a Covid test for convenient of our parents, but at that time the entire nation was behind on getting a report on time so we had nothing to do with it. we just called the company and gave the same response we received from them. We also did have permission from the parents before giving out marshmallows. Lastly, you did not like the price change and that was the main reason you decided to leave us and I have email to prove it, but unfortunately inflation is everywhere and we had to increase the price to survive since we did not increase the price for last 2 years. At last, We are glad to hear that you have found a good daycare for your child.
Well I am glad you mentioned about the increase in price and I hope you are writing reviews for
Big oil companies who have increase their prices for more then 33%
Meat producers who have increase their prices for more then 33%
Big box store like Costco or Sam's who have increase their prices for some items more then 33%
Housing market and pretty much anything that has increase in price.
Staff turnover is everywhere, the entire nation. open up any news channel or just drive through, now hiring sign in everywhere so why do you think we would be any difference.
So you are ok getting 4% increase but other stores like many I mentioned above can have price increase of 50-60% and you are ok paying it without any complain or writing review for them. for example gas.
You were getting 20% discount a month and when that promotion ended you decided to cut his day to 2 or 3 days and wanted the same price which was set 2 years back and once we said no you put your 4 weeks notice. My director told you to give her positive feedback to see what we can improve upon. You did not do that and instead started writing reviews. All this issues you are mentioning, you never even once made an appt with me or my director or my teachers and have sit in office to resolve your concern. You could have emailed, phoned us or told us in person. Most parent who don't think its a good fit for their child would not wait 5 months but the reason you stayed because you were getting 20% off and you were saving money and if the other daycare had no opening, if you did not trust us or the staff would have kept the child at home and not in the hands of the daycare you claim not to be trusted. We cared for 11 other families at that time and you had a trust issue and it even started after the price increase. We do take pride in that your son was happy and healthy and in good care with us and without any incident. There are better ways to handle all the situation, Its easier to hide behind other medium and write false reviews and bring your frustration through review instead of face to face conversation and that is what most parents do. Also, When we increase the price, you are the only parents out of entire facility that has disenroll.
We do have your emails about minor concern and we responded within less then 24 hours even with staffing shortage and answered your called or called you back right away.
We did partner with reliable covid company and they had clinics everywhere but staffing shortage and covid in rise everyone was behind and it did not matter which company you picked and we did not force you to test with us, you had option to go test at other centers. I am not sure what you mean by mismanaged but that is your prospective and all other parents have no issue with the company we hired nor how it was handled including my both children.
We know what we are doing and we get praised everyday by parents and we are still open to hear what you have to say and you are more then welcome to come in talk to me or my director so we can improve and that is how responsible we are and this how it should have been done and you were given options since we have open door policy.
At last, We know you got frustrated with the price increase and instead of talking to us, you made up a story and left and never shared your concern to anyone until we saw you frustration on Yelp. I hope parents reading this learn from it and talk to the management team first and there is always a solution for everything as long as you want the solution. Thank You and if you think we did not meet your budget but it could have been resolved if you would have communicated in proper manner.Feb 26, 2022Previous reviewWe brought our son to KA from September 2021 to February 2022. In those 5 months, the staff turnover was a red flag for us. Not knowing who was taking care of our baby on any given day and seeing random people in photos throughout the day bothered me.
Another red flag was poor record keeping - there were several days our tadpoles daily report showed that they gave my son formula when I only ever provided expressed breastmilk.
Alyssa, Laura, and Tamara seemed to really care for our little guy. I doubt they were well-supported, unfortunately. And I was particularly put off when, around the holidays, the owners posted flyers that said to write positive Google reviews about how great their teachers are and that they would give a special gift to teachers who were mentioned in reviews. The center also sent a photo of the flyer through Tadpoles... So my phone tells me it's a pic of my baby and it's this spam... I was pretty annoyed at the time. I look forward to photos of my kid all day. But moreso, I was nervous. Are the only good reviews for this center ones that the owners manipulate out of parents? I appreciate my son's teachers, but I don't think this was the right way for the center to appreciate them.
Unfortunately, I've seen a number of things at the center that aren't safe. Babies sleeping in boppies (2 separate instances), for example. When you see these things during the 5 minutes you're in the building for pick up, you can't help but to worry about what you're not seeing.
The mismanagement of a positive covid case in our son's room was the final straw for us. After a staff member tested positive, we were asked to pick up our son that day and have him take a PCR test to be able to return to the center. They would have a testing company onsite to test at pick up if we wanted. When we arrived for pick up and onsite testing, everyone (parents, staff, babies) we're crowded in the foyer. A staff member was handing out marshmallows to small kids as they waited to be tested for covid (yep, marshmallows, a choking hazard!). A different staff member walked into the building to be tested while holding a positive rapid test! She was in the building, talking on her phone with her mask down. The pieces of that came together only after my husband and I debriefed in the car (the teacher with the positive test was out in the parking lot crying, so I approached her to make sure she was okay and learned about the positive test).
We never got our results back from the onsite test. The test was taken on a Friday, and our son developed symptoms the next day. On Monday the director called and left a voicemail asking how our son was doing. I called back and said that he has a fever and won't be in. She told me that all of the kids' rapid tests came back negative and the classroom is open and we could return to the center once our son was well. I asked when the PCR results would be back, and she said that the testing company is prioritizing processing the PCR tests for those who had positive rapid tests. This made no sense. False positives are very uncommon with rapid tests; false negatives are more likely. It is also odd to me that OUR insurance information was required for the test, but we never heard anything. The only thing we heard was the verbal result from the director over the phone. I'm not sure who to attribute this shadiness to - KA or the testing company. Regardless, we got a positive test while at urgent care later in the week. Sadly, we put off bringing our son to urgent care because we thought he'd had a negative rapid test (again, we never got an email or correspondence from the testing company about his negative test result). I'm happy we finally got him seen, but the actions we took were impacted by the information KA gave us.
After this happened, we scrambled to find a new childcare arrangement. Our son is now happily enrolled at a new daycare that is so organized, communicative, and trustworthy. I just wish I had trusted my gut sooner.
